9:00-9:30

Discovery

Children are encouraged to investigate, ask questions, and engage in meaningful interactions with nature, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love for the outdoors.  This might look like exploring the mud kitchen, painting with watercolors, building a tree fort, or sculpting with playdoh.

9:30-10:00 Academic Focus

Math and Literacy

This is a time when we focus on math and literacy. This varies depending on the age group but we use a multi-sensory, systematic, and sequential method to teach reading and spelling. For math we focus on building a strong foundation in numbers, counting, addition, subtraction, basic geometry and problem solving skills.

Morning Gather and Graze

This is a time when we gather together for a healthy snack.  We might read a book, discuss our sign in question and implement literacy focusing on reading comprehension and retelling a story.

10:30-11:30

Trail Exploration

We will hit the trails, move our bodies, forage for plants and have application practice while we are out exploring.  We will collect leaves, create equations with sticks, keep tallies of natural items, write in our journals and soak in the beauty of our surroundings.

Afternoon Gather and Graze

We will eat together and reflect on our day further, exploring the theme, our observations, what we loved and didn't love.  We will read a book focusing on reading comprehension and the retelling of our story.

12:30-1

Discovery

This last 30 minutes might be a time of music, dancing, art, or reading a chapter book together.  We will base this on the students interests and the flow of our day.
